Big B takes the mike again!! This time for Shamitabh

The latest here is Director R. Balki who’s made Amitabh Bachchan take the mike again. The Duo who recently begun working for their next project ‘Shamitabh’ have been friends for a long time and Big B’s stepping up for Balki is no surprise. Talking about the job Big B on his blog wrote “Oh and yes another session with Aadesh (Shrivastava) at his music studio last night did result in another song that I had to sing for Shamitabh…the finest quality of music from the genius of Ilayaraja, the magician from Chennai.” Amit Ji went all out praising the Southern composer where he added “How many years have passed since his emergence and how till today his prominence continues. The veteran, the master, who nurtured some very special musicians.” Ilaiyaraaja is busy composing music for Shamitabh and is very excited for the project.
Big B’s new look was recently made public where he appeared with long white hair and beard making him look an aged man. R. Balki has previously directed Amitabh Bachchan in 2007’s Cheeni Kum and 2009’s award winning Paa.

Tiger Shroff: No body is better than Hrithik sir
For Tiger Shroff, Hrithik Roshan is Bollywood's best dancer and one of the best actors in the industry.

He says, "If Hrithik sir wasn't a good actor inKaho Naa... Pyaar Hai and if he were just a brilliant dancer, nobody would've appreciated him much. He did these larger-than-life dance moves, besides acting so well. That's what made him a superstar."

Tamannaah Gets Candid About Sajid, Bipasha And Bikinis!

Tamannaah Gets Candid About Sajid, Bipasha And Bikinis!

Tamannaah in Humshakals

While ‘Himmatwala’ received the thumbs down from audiences and critics alike, Tamannaah is back with ‘Humshakals’ and looking to gain acceptance from all quarters this time around. Indiatimes spoke to the actress about her hopes, her equation with Sajid Khan and Bipasha Basu and about why she shied away from wearing an entire bikini for the film. Excerpts from the interview:

Your last Bollywood film was a disaster...
And that’s why there’s no pressure. You know, when you hit rock bottom, you can’t sink any further. The only way from there was up.

Were you very disappointed after Himmatwala?
There was no time to feel sad! In fact, I think the people around me felt worse than I did.

So you’re feeling good about Humshakals?
Absolutely. I play a VJ in the film and I’m really happy with my look. After Himmatwala, I felt that audiences were finding my look dated. I wanted to break that perception that ‘oh, she does South Indian films so she’s always going to be this desi girl’. I play a VJ in Humshakals and it’s all very urban and chic.

Have you found it to juggle work in both industries?
A little, because the sensibilities are different. For example, they like much fuller women down south while they expect you to be lean in Bollywood, and so I was getting comments like ‘oh, you’re thin again’ or ‘wow, you’re fat’ all the time. It was perplexing because it’s not like I’m made of elastic to make everyone happy. Fortunately, because I’m already a known face down South, I got to stay on the lean side and complete my Bollywood projects.
Tamannaah in Humshakals

How was it working with Sajid this time around?
He was very different. With Himmatwala, he had tried on drama for size but I think people couldn’t relate to that 80s kind of entertainment and it flopped as badly as it did. With Humshakals, he’s back to making an out-and-out comedy and he’s taken a real risk with this triplets gag. It’s confusing but that’s where the humour arises from. He’s confident about this film.

He was confident the last time too...
Yes, but it’s different this time around. You have to really appreciate this man for being brave enough to announce on a national platform that he made a mistake and that he’s trying to correct it this time around. I think it’s good to fail sometimes because it gives you a reality check. I do hope this film does well for his sake and for everyone associated with it.

Sajid’s been a bit of a godfather to you, hasn’t he?
I would say he’s more of a mentor. He had enough faith in my talent to cast me after the debacle that was Himmatwala and has presented me in an entirely different avatar

What’s your personal equation like?
He treats me like he would his sister, and I feel similarly about him.

You share screen space with not only three actors but two other actresses. Didn’t that feel a little crowded?
See anyone who works with Sajid knows that he’ll tell you on day one what your role will be and how much screen time you’re going to get. There was never any ambiguity in my head about what my part in this film would be and so there was no question of me feeling insecure or strapped for space.

So all the rumours we’re hearing about catfights on the sets...
(Interrupts) Untrue. I’m sure it makes great copy but contrary to the rumours floating around, Bipasha was very sweet to me and even offered me tips about fitness and acting whenever I needed them.

One only asks because it’s not uncommon to hear these kind of things when there’s more than one actress in a film.
Look, I’ll be honest. There was a healthy sense of competition because we all want to put our best foot forward, but it never got awkward.

What was wearing a bikini on screen like?
Well, I’m not wearing an entire bikini; I’ve got shorts on in that scene. I’ve always maintained that I won’t wear a bikini or kiss on screen, but I didn’t want to affect the chic vibe of the film and so that’s as far as I went.

What was your equation with Saif like?
It’s very easy to romance him. He can instantly charm you and he’s someone who’s so secure. He also submits entirely to the director’s will. It was amazing to watch someone so experienced come to the set with a blank slate and follow his director blindly
Tamannaah in Humshakals

Your three Bollywood releases, Himmatwala, Humshakals and It’s Entertainment, are true blue masala entertainers. Do you see yourself doing anything different or will you stick to this?
I think it’s pure coincidence that my releases have been so and I’m sure that in the future, I’ll be doing films entirely away from this genre. It just so happens that this is what is on my plate right now and hence, what you’re getting to see.

That said, I’d rather be part of films that people are interested about rather than the kind of film you wouldn’t care to interview me about. Who’d want to be part of something insignificant, a film whose release no one cared about?

So you’re happy then?
I’d say I’m satisfied. I’m currently working on three South Indian films and I have two releases. But yes, I certainly want more and I know that I have a long way to go.

Acting is over, says Uday Chopra
There is nothing like self-realisation. And after 14 years and about a dozen films, Uday Chopra has realised that acting is not his cup of tea. He has decided to move on.

Currently he heads the international arm of Yash Raj Films and has shifted base to the Los Angeles from Mumbai.

Aked about his acting dreams, he said: "That's over. My focus is not there. Also, I don't have time to act."

Last seen in "Dhoom 3", he can bend rules for the next installment of the successful franchise being produced under his home banner.

"I would take time out for 'Dhoom 4' if at all they want me in it or else its pretty much over," said Uday, who heads YRF Entertainment which recently released its joint venture "Grace Of Monaco" in India.

Ukraine agrees to talks on Moscow-backed plan for eastern regions

Ukraine agrees to talks on Moscow-backed plan for eastern regions

The Ukrainian government has agreed to launch discussions on giving more powers to the regions under a peace plan brokered by the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) – a road map backed by Moscow but which Kiev has regarded with scepticism.
Ukraine's prime minister, Arseniy Yatsenyuk, is to chair the first in a series of meetings to include national MPs, government figures and regional officials in line with proposals drafted by the OSCE – a transatlantic security and rights group that includes Russia and the US.
A solution to the crisis in east Ukraine had seemed remote on Tuesday as six Ukrainian army servicemen were killed in an ambush by rebels and attempts to get Kiev and the armed separatists to negotiate came to nothing.
Ukraine's defence ministry released a statement saying that six of its soldiers had been killed and a further eight wounded during an ambush outside the town of Kramatorsk, in Donetsk region. The attackers used grenade launchers and automatic weapons to fire at the Ukrainian column, hitting an armoured personnel carrier.
More than 50 people have died in Donetsk since Kiev began its "anti-terrorism operation" in the area, but Tuesday's attack represents the largest loss of life for the Ukrainian army in a single incident.
The de facto separatist government in Donetsk repeated on Tuesday lunchtime that the Ukrainian army was considered to be an "occupying force", and the ambush appeared to be a bloody restatement of their case.
The "Donetsk People's Republic" was proclaimed on Monday, after a hastily arranged referendum resulted in nearly 90% of votes in favour of state sovereignty. Critics have pointed out that there were no observers and that most of those who remain loyal to Kiev simply stayed at home. Nevertheless, the region announced independence and immediately appealed to Russia to accept it as a new region.
The Ukrainian government and western powers have rejected the referendum as a sham.
In Brussels on Tuesday, Yatsenyuk thanked the OSCE for its plan but said Ukraine has its own proposals for ending the crisis and said the people of his country should settle the issue themselves. He disclosed no details of that plan.
The self-proclaimed Donetsk republic took its first tentative steps on the international stage on Tuesday, imposing sanctions on three individuals – the US president, Barack Obama, the German chancellor, Angela Merkel and the EU foreign affairs chief Catherine Ashton – who are banned from entering the territory as well as flying over it. The reason given is that they support the Kiev government's operation's against armed separatists in the east of the country.
In a document, the separatists also gave David Cameron a sharp warning, saying: "PS British prime minister David Cameron is on a provisional list (without the sanctions being enforced in practice) and is advised to think carefully about his attitude to the Kiev junta, especially given the traditional good relations between Britain and the Donbas region)."
Donetsk was founded by a Welshman, John Hughes, in the 1870s, and for a time the city even bore his name.
