Police chief David Kimaiyo said the man was posting information on the handle claiming to be statements from Al Shabaab.
“We have arrested several suspects in connection to Mpeketoni incident including the owner and driver of one the vehicles used by attackers,” Kimaiyo said, adding: “Also in police custody is a suspect who was operating social media accounts purportedly used by Al Shabaab to claim responsibility.”
Kimaiyo said he has also dismissed the Officer in Charge of Mpeketoni, Aden Ali, with immediate effect and is due to be charged in court.
“OCS Aden Ali, Mpeketoni, dismissed with immediate effect & he’ll be charged in court. More suspects including leaders are being interrogated,” he said.
