TWMA technology wins at SPE Offshore
Achievement Awards
The company, which is headquartered in Aberdeen and employs more than 350 employees worldwide, surpassed tough competition from finalists Stork and Cape Environmental Service Offshore, to uphold its TCC RotoMill® as most outstanding environmental technology developed for and deployed in the offshore oil and gas or renewables industry.
TWMA’s submission is centred on the technology’s safe and efficient operations in the handling and process of drill cuttings and associated materials at source. This ‘at source’ capability not only eliminates environmental risk, but can also present operational cost savings to the operator.
Rob O'Neill, TWMA sales director comments, “We are absolutely elated to see our TCC RotoMill technology win this evening, having worked continuously to develop a successful track record in ‘at source’ treatment, years ahead of the industry and other potential competitors.
“We have worked hard to ensure this is the next generation of thermal desorption technology. It focuses on solids control rather than waste management, and prevents offshore rigs producing drilling waste by using a process of thermal desorption to separate drill cuttings and associated material into its three constituent parts. The resulting oil and water are then ready for recycling or reuse and the rock solids surpass environmental regulation requirements and can be dispersed back into the sea with no environmental impact
“We have progressively changed the perceptions of thermal desorption and our TCC RotoMill® has proved itself as a sector-leading technology, which significantly reduces carbon footprint. We are proud to now be able to crown it as our ‘award-winning’ technology – something which it wholeheartedly deserves.
