Body confirmed as missing hillwalker Edward Jackson

Edward Jackson was last seen preparing to walk to a remote village on the Isle of Harris

A body found in North Harris has been confirmed as being that of hillwalker Edward Jackson from the Preston area.

Mr Jackson was reported missing last week after he failed to return from a walk in the Maraig to Urgha path area of the island.

His body was discovered following a search by coastguards and police as well as volunteers from HebSar, the isles' voluntary mountain rescue team.

Mr Jackson, 55, was on a walking holiday in the Western Isles.
