DCA staff summoned to help probe, not under probe: Ahmad Zahid

JOHOR BARU: Staff of the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) were summoned to assist in the investigation of the missing Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH370.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (pix) said the DCA staff involved were not under investigation.
"They were not interrogated, I have to correct the perception. Police need to interview all parties who can provide additional information to assist the investigation," he said when answering questions about news reports that police are investigating DCA staff.
Yesterday, news reports said that 40 DCA staff who were on duty on March 8, the day MH370 went missing, were under investigation.
Ahmad Zahid hopes that with this explanation, the local and foreign media would understand the police procedures in the information gathering.
"I don't want DCA staff to be viewed in a negative light as the police aim is to gather additional information."
Asked whether staff of other agencies would be summoned, he said it would depend on the information obtained by the police.
"The additional information can assist in the investigation and help find the cause of the missing MH370," he said.
Earlier, Ahmad Zahid paid a visit to Seri Alam district police headquarters here. – Bernama
