Although the Presidential Office had received the letter on the 12th of March the former President had sent her letter to President Mahinda Rajapakse on the 5th of March.
While the letter contains a reference to a white van culture the reply letter states that such a concept is only existent in the minds of those who tried to destroy the image of this country according to the agenda of foreign forces.
The allegation made in the former President’s letter eluding the modern methodology of destroying those who are a threat to the current administration’s officials via murder, disappearances and assault has been vehemently denied in the reply letter.
Presidential Secretary Lalith Weeratunga stated that President Rajapakse has also denied the allegations made by the former President regarding her right to privacy and harassment.
The reply letter has also referred to severe crimes committed by the Presidential Security during the former President’s administration.
The President has stated that there is absolutely no evidence to justify the claims made by the former President against the government, police and intelligence services.
The reply letter states that her claims are similar to those raised by both local and foreign individuals who do not want to see the peace and reconciliation of the country strengthen.
