Arvind Kejriwal to contest from Varanasi; dares Narendra Modi for open debate
NEW DELHI: Declaring his intention to contest against BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday said that he would fight againstNarendra Modi in Varanasi.
"I am ready to fight Modi in Varanasi. I invite him for an open debate in Varanasi," Kejriwal said.
Stating that he has no fascination to become an MP, Kejriwal said, "If I wanted to be an MP, I would have chosen a safe seat like other politicians."
"I resigned from the post of Delhi CM because of my principles. What do BJPleaders know of sacrifice," Kejriwal said.
Addressing a rally in Varanasi, Kejriwal alleged that both Congress and BJP want Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to shut down. "Thousands of SMEs have shut down in Gujarat. If you vote for Modi, then SMEs will shut down in Varanasi," he said.
Raking up the issue of FDI, Kejriwal said that both Congress and BJP favour it. "Both Congress & BJP favour FDI, then what is the difference between the two parties," he asked.
On the issue of gas price hike, Kejriwal said, "Why is BJP silent on gas price hike? It has been over a month since I wrote to Modi on gas price, he hasn't replied." "Both Rahul Gandhi& Narendra Modi are agents of Ambani & Adani," he accused.
Kejriwal, who was shown black flags during his road rally in Varanasi said, "The biggest enemy for Congress & BJP is AAP which is why they both show black flags to AAP not to each other."
Kejriwal's face and shirt were splattered with ink by unidentified people. The UP in-charge of the party Sanjay Singh and former Delhi Law Minister Somnath Bharti were also targeted by these people.
